FAQs
How does the treatment work?
Pulses of light target and erase broken vessels and pigmented lesions at the surface of your skin without harming surrounding tissue. As a result, you enjoy clearer skin that looks younger and fresher. Many patients affected by broken capillaries, spotty pigmentation or brown spots tend to see results after just one IPL treatment session but a course of sessions is recommended for maximum result
What can I expect during treatment?
After a full consultation and patch test to assess your suitability for the treatment, you will be cleansed and given full black out goggles to wear during treatment. Your specialist will apply some lux lotion to enhance the comfort of your treatment and your session will begin. During your treatment you will experience a flashing light although your eyes will be fully protected with metal black out goggles, virtually pain free you will also experience a sensation similar to the snap of an elastic band with most patients describing the after sensation of the treatment as a mild sunburn sensation. Treatment times are generally 30mins.
Are there any side effects?
Depending on the concern you are treating side effects of the treatment can vary. For pigment or pigmented lesions typical after effects of the treatment consist of, slight redness, immediate darkening of the pigment (this is what we want to see) followed by crusting or flaking of the pigment over the next 5-7 days. This is your body naturally removing the pigment and your pigment will be visibly lighter and or removed completely.
For vascular imperfections, blushing and rosacea treatments, you can expect redness, some mild swelling or puffiness and darkening of the blood vessels, over the next 2-4 weeks your body will naturally re-absorb these treated vessels and they will disappear.
